 Hurdles champ out of Beijing

Hurdles champ out of Beijing

9/07/2008 6:56:37 PM

Reigning world champion Jana Rawlinson has been ruled out of next month's Beijing Olympics with a toe injury. Her management confirmed tonight the 400m hurdler's withdrawal from the Games because of complications with the toe. Rawlinson had appeared to be on the road to recovery last week when she raced for the first time in nine months in Poland. But her body has broken down again, cruelling her Olympic dreams. It is a terrible setback for the 25-year-old who finished fifth in the final at the 2004 Athens Olympics after being dogged by a knee injury in the lead-up to the Games.
