The under 18s sealed the first win of the day for the Tigers Saturday morning, in front of the home town crowd.
The young Tigers lost to Wauchope a fortnight earlier by 22-12, and then beat the competition leaders the following week.
They started slowly with the Blues scoring an early try to lead 4-0.
It wasn’t until the last five minutes of the first half that Wingham got onto the scoreboard with a try to Ben Webber.
Jake Goward converted for a 6-4 lead at the break.
Following a 40-20 kick early in the second stanza, Ben Webber bagged his second four-pointer, and the advantage to 10-4.
In the next set of tackles, Tyrone Jowett touched down for the Tigers.
He converted his own try for the home team to have a 16-10 lead only five minutes into the section.
Over the next 10 minutes, Wauchope had a try disallowed, followed by three disallowed tries to the Tigers.
Both teams were getting frustrated which exploded in a brawl.
Wingham settled down to football, and Wayd Bowden sealed Wingham’s victory inside the final 10 minutes when he recovered a chip kick from Nick Watson.
Tyrone Jowett’s conversion made the final score 22-4.
Wingham are in third position on the competition table, just two points behind the second-place team.
