Di’s new challenge after three decades

20/08/2008 5:00:00 AM
For three decades, Di Pasfield has been the friendly face behind the counter at the Wingham Library.

But that era came to an end last week when the branch librarian had her last day on the job in Wingham, now taking up a position at the forthcoming Harrington Library.

Di will be the branch librarian at that library when it opens later this month.

She moved to Harrington three years ago, which made the choice to work closer to home a logical one.

And while it means she will leave behind her many Wingham friends, Di said she was looking forward to being at the helm of a brand new library.

“It is an exciting time,” she admitted.

But that doesn’t make it any easier to say goodbye.

“I am going to miss coming to Wingham every day,” she said.

“It is a nice place to work and I will miss the people most of all.”

Sheryl Amos is the new branch librarian at Wingham and Di wished her and the rest of the staff the best for the future.

“I’d like to thank all of the community for their friendship.”

Manager of library services Margie Wallis paid tribute to Di’s commitment to the position on her last day at the branch.
