Wingham café and food store Bent on Food has received its second consecutive win in the Northern New South Wales Restaurant and Catering Awards for Excellence.
Bent on Food was named winner in the tourist restaurant section, open to eateries from Kingscliff to Forster.
Café proprietor Donna Carrier (pictured above) said it is the café’s use of local produce and its strong public relations that helped it gain this peer recognition for the second time in a row.
“Local produce is a feature of everything on our menu,” Donna said.
Despite the accolades, Donna knows the success of the business has been built on its community-minded approach.
“Many of the tourists we attract are actually the friends and family of locals.”
The award win came a few days after Donna returned from the eighth annual Good Food and Wine Show at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre where she was stationed at celebrity chef Lyndey Milan’s regional food stand.
Donna said she used the platform to promote her business and the Manning region at large to the thousands who attended.
