Chamber to announce award winners at AGM

22/07/2008 1:11:00 PM
The Wingham Chamber of Commerce has cancelled the cocktail party at Bent on Food planned to announce the winners of the inaugural Wingham Business Awards.

A low response from local business caused the chamber to cancel the July 19 event.

The business now plans to hold the awards presentation as part of its annual general meeting (AGM) and dinner meeting next Wednesday.

Trophies will be presented to the winners and certificates of appreciation will be awarded to finalists and the businesses that nominated for the abandoned judged categories of the awards.

The AGM will be held at the Wingham Bowling Club from 6.30pm with a cost of $25 per head for the two-course dinner.

The chamber will elect a new president as current president John McPherson will not be standing for re-election.

The offices of vice-president, treasurer, publicity officer, secretary and committee positions will also be vacated.

If you are interested in running for one of these positions, make sure you attend the meeting so you can be considered for election.

The AGM is an important calendar event for the chamber when it reviews the year – and this year will have the added dimension of seeing local businesses and staff recognised for their important contribution to the local economy through the inaugural Wingham Business Awards.

To confirm your attendance for catering purposes, phone chamber office administrator Gillian Stone on 6553 0888 or email admin@winghamchamber.com.au

Don’t miss the August 6 edition of the Wingham Chronicle for pictures and stories on all the award winners.
